Kanopy is a streaming film service that offers thousands of films, documentaries, and shorts from producers in the U.S. and around the world. Highlights include films from The Criterion Collection, The Great Courses, and PBS, as well as thousands of independent filmmakers.
Kanopy Kids offers carefully selected videos that include award-winning movies and TV series, classic films, and family-friendly documentaries. Look for developmentally appropriate, age-based ratings to help with selection; additional parental controls are also available.
Sign up for your free account, then add your WFPL library card to start watching. You can check out up to five films per month. If you run out of play credits for the current month, save films to a watchlist (+MyList) for the future.
You will need an internet connection to watch videos on Kanopy. You can watch on a computer or laptop; on your television via Chromecast, Apple TV, or Roku; or on a mobile device using the Kanopy app. (Use the icons at the bottom of the Kanopy site to access apps.)
If you are having trouble accessing Kanopy, start by following the tutorial videos below. If you have further questions, we recommend Kanopy Help for Viewers. Please note that this service is for Watertown residents only; if your library card is registered to a different town, you will need to check with your home library to see if they also offer it.
