Graphic Novel Month
October 2020 is Graphic Novel Month at the Watertown Free Public Library. Graphic Novels (GNs) are not only fun; they are works of art, often great literature, and a significant part of pop culture.
For the first time ever, the Library is joining forces with The Comic Stop in Watertown to offer virtual programs and a gift bags with comic books for all participants. Through the month, there will be more chances to win gift certificates, graphic novels, and drawing supplies.
Graphic Novel Month festivities are open to students in grades 4–12. We hope you'll join us!
Graphic Novel Reading Challenge
For every graphic novel review you submit, you earn a chance to win one of our fabulous prizes. We'll draw winners from two divisions: one for grades 4–6 and one for grades 7–12. The more you read, the more chances you have to win! Here's how it works.
1. Register for the GN Reading Challenge. You only have to do it once. After you sign up, we'll tell you how you can pick up your free gift bag!
2. Submit one review for every GN you read in October.
If you need some ideas on what to read, ask a WFPL librarian or ask Dave at The Comic Stop
Create Your Own Superhero
Many graphic novels tell stories about heroes overcoming incredible obstacles. Here's a chance to create your own! We want to know: what is your superhero's name? What is their surprising superpower? After you have used your imagination, submit this information here:
For every superhero you submit, you earn a chance to win one of our fabulous prizes. Like the reading challenge, we'll draw winners from two divisions: one for grades 4–6 and one for grades 7–12. Include a drawing with each submission for an extra chance to win!
Drawing Comics with Local Artists
