Harry Potter Escape Room
*Due to high demand, we have added three additional sessions on October 26 and 27. Registration for these sessions will open at 1PM on Thursday, October 17.
Gather your friends, family, coworkers, or any Harry Potter fanatics in your life, and tackle the library’s latest escape room! With some help from Hatch Makerspace, we’ve built an all new game for you inspired by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. There may just be a riddle or two for you to solve...
The Chamber of Secrets has been opened, the Monster that lives inside is on the loose and attacking students from non-magic families! On top of that you can’t shake the feeling that someone sinister is pulling the strings. It’s not the safest year to be a Hogwarts student. Work as a team to figure out how to stop the Monster and her puppet master before it’s too late!
All ages = ages 10+ with parent/guardian. Grades 6+ may register without an adult. | Adult = ages 18+

How It Works
- An escape room (or puzzle room) is a fun, interactive game with a team of players confined to a particular space. Teams then follow clues, crack codes and solve puzzles in pursuit of completing their assigned goal.
- You will receive game instructions before you enter the room. There is no admission after the doors close. You should plan on being in the room for the whole game. There will be no outside help and no consulting the internet. Work as a team. If you get stuck you can request 2 hints during the game.
- There will be many items in the escape room and clues will be hidden among them. The room is designed to withstand multiple sessions so please do not purposefully break or rip anything in the room. Refrain from lifting any large furniture items as well.
- Let’s not spoil the game for others. To that end, please do not discuss the room with any other teams or post/share any pictures inside the escape room before 3 PM on Sunday 10/27. The team with the fastest time recorded will be declared the winner!
Are you really locking us in a room? No, not really but we will have the doors closed so as not to let the magic (or the answers) out into the hall. You will be released after 45 minutes regardless of whether you are successful. Please plan on being in the room for those 45 minutes.
Do I have to read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets to play? Game play does not require Harry Potter knowledge, but it could be an advantage. It’s a quick read so request a copy from the library today!
How many people can be signed up per session? Sessions can accommodate 8 people but there is a maximum of 4 bookings per registrant. If you are having difficulty signing up a group, please contact us directly.
Do I have to sign up for all the spots in the session? No, spots will be filled by others until the session is full.
Any age restrictions? Children aged 10 and up are welcome to participate when accompanied by an adult. Some sessions are intended for a specific age group, please keep this in mind when picking your preferred escape room session.
I have a younger child. Can I bring that child along? Will they take up a spot? Younger siblings are welcome to attend. They will not use up a spot.
Do I have to live in Watertown or have a Minuteman Library Card to participate? Nope!
