Friends of Project Literacy

The Friends of Project Literacy is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation founded to support the work of Project Literacy. The Friends of Project Literacy raise money through grants from foundations, fundraisers, donations from individuals and businesses to help ensure the continued growth of Project Literacy’s educational programs. Many board members began their involvement as either volunteer tutors or students; all share a commitment to improving adult literacy in our community.

The Friends of Project Literacy is seeking new board members or other volunteers interested in literacy, especially those who have experience in fundraising, marketing, community outreach or event planning. For more information, please contact Laurie Garden at l.garden@comcast.net or Karen Roubicek at k.roubicek@comcast.net.

Project Literacy is funded through grants, contributions from individuals and businesses, and the support of the Watertown Free Public Library. We would like to extend a special thank you to the following major donors, without whom Project Literacy would not be able to serve so many deserving students:

  • First Church in Belmont
  • Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare
  • The Marshall Home Fund
  • Watertown Community Foundation
  • Watertown Savings Bank

We would like to thank the following for matching their employees’ gifts to Project Literacy:

  • Autodesk
  • Eaton Vance Investment Managers
  • Thermo Fisher
  • Tufts Health Plan

We deeply appreciate the generosity of the individuals and families who have contributed this year.
