Un-American: A Soldier's Reckoning of Our Longest War Book Talk with Author Erik Edstrom

Wednesday, July 1, 2020

Erik Edstrom will present a book talk on his debut book Un-American: A Soldier's Reckoning of Our Longest War. A hybrid memoir and social commentary, Un-American is an unflinching narrative that addresses America's approach to the military, military spending, and patriotism. As a graduate of West Point who served in Afghanistan, Edstrom tried to justify the war while struggling with depression, facing wartime atrocity, and burying friends - eventually facing his truth that the War on Terror is not just a tragedy, but a crime. Q&A follows. Erik Edstrom graduated from West Point in 2007. He was deployed to Afghanistan, where he served as infantry platoon leader. Erik is a graduate of U.S. Army Ranger school, was selected for the U.S. Special Forces (SFAS), was awarded the Bronze Star, and served as the Presidential Escort Platoon Leader during the Obama administration. Erik holds an MBA and Master of Science from Oxford University. He lives in Boston.
