Hatch Curbside Pickup
NEW: Take and Make Pickup
Free Take and Make craft kits are available from Hatch! Reserve yours by registering for a Zoom workshop and emailing the Hatch Coordinator, Liz, to arrange a contactless curbside pickup: ehelfer@watertown-ma.gov.
- Fleece | 1/15 | 6 PM | Register for the Zoom workshop here. Includes: Fleece fabric, 4 buttons, 2 hand sewing needles, thread, and pattern.
- Arduino Booster | 1/25 | 7 PM | Register for the Zoom workshop here. Includes: 1 breadboard, 10 resistors, 8 jumper wires, and 3 LED diodes.
- Finishing | 1/26 | 6 PM | Register for the Zoom workshop here. Includes: 2 sheets of sandpaper, 1 tube of super glue, a container of baking soda, a container of primer paint, and 2 small brushes.
3D Printing, Laser, and Vinyl Cutting Services Available
Even though Hatch Makerspace is closed to the public, we can 3D print, laser cut, and vinyl cut your creations for you. Just send us the files and we’ll notify you when the job is complete.
Free and open to all: There is no cost for 3D printing, laser cutting, or vinyl cutting at Hatch Makerspace. Patrons are limited to one job per medium, per week.
Original work only: All file submissions must be your original work. Do not submit unmodified design files downloaded from the internet or other third-party sources. We want to encourage your creativity!
Pickup Protocol
You will be notified when your item is complete. Curbside Pickup hours are Monday–Friday, 10–4pm. Please call Hatch five minutes before arrival: 781-795-2309. Items will be placed outside the Hatch door in a shopping bag and labeled with your name. Unclaimed items will be brought back inside Hatch until contacted again.
Submit Your Files
File submission is different for 3D printing, laser cutting, and vinyl cutting jobs. Carefully follow the instructions below to submit your job. If you have any questions, email the Hatch Coordinator: ehelfer@watertown-ma.gov
3D Printing Guidelines
- All 3D printing jobs should be of your original design.
- All 3D printing jobs will be printed in PLA.
- You may submit one 3D printing job per week. (A "job" is defined as one .STL file.)
- Hatch will not modify or complete jobs that have incorrect settings.
- There is no cost for 3D printing jobs.
- You will be notified when your file is received.
- You will be notified if your file needs modification or you have reached your weekly maximum.
How to Submit
Email your completed file to ehelfer@watertown-ma.gov
- Please include your full name in your email.
- Save your job as an .STL file.
- File dimensions cannot exceed 5x5x5”
- Please designate a layer height between 0.1-0.3mm. Files emailed without a layer height designation will be printed at 0.2mm.
- Hatch will not print jobs with a print time over 10 hours. You can check your file’s print time using FlashPrint which you can download here: https://www.flashforge.com/download-center
- Please designate a primary and secondary color choice, we will do our best to accommodate. Files emailed without a color designation will be printed in Hatch’s choice. Available colors: blue, yellow, red, white, forest green, natural, metallic orange, gray.
- For small jobs under 2x2x2”, there are many other colors available, please write in a preference and we will try to match.
Laser Cutter Guidelines
- You do not need to have a completed “Laser Cutter Card” in order to use the online laser cutter service.
- All laser cutter jobs should be of your original design.
- All laser cutter jobs will be cut on 12x12” sheets of 1/8” plywood.
- You may submit one laser cutter job per week.
- Hatch will not modify or complete jobs that have incorrect settings.
- There is no cost for laser cutter jobs.
- You will be notified when your file is received.
- You will be notified if your file needs modification or you have reached your weekly maximum.
How to Submit
Email your completed file to ehelfer@watertown-ma.gov
- Vectors/cut lines must be set to .001” width (file preferences must be set to inches).
- File must be saved as a PDF with a page size of 12x12” or less.
- A job may consist of up to two 12x12” PDF files.
Vinyl Cutter Guidelines
- All vinyl cutter jobs should be of your original design.
- All vinyl cutter jobs will be cut on glossy sticker vinyl.
- There is no cost for vinyl cutter jobs.
- You may submit one vinyl cutter job a week.
- You will be notified when your file is received.
- Hatch will not modify or complete jobs that have incorrect settings.
- You will be notified if your file needs modification or you have reached your weekly maximum.
Submit Your Design
Email your completed file to ehelfer@watertown-ma.gov
- Please use Silhouette Studio to create your design, you can download it for free here (https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software).
- Your file must be saved as a Silhouette Studio File
- Your file must have a page size of 12x12” or less.
- Please designate a primary and secondary color choice, we will do our best to accommodate. Your file will be cut in one color. Files emailed without a color designation will be printed in Hatch’s choice. Available Colors: orange, white, purple, yellow, blue, red, pink, black, lime green
- For small jobs under 2x2x2”, there are many other colors available, please write in your preference and we will try to match.
