Teen Summer Reading

WFPL Teen Summer Reading Program

June 23 - August 25, 2014

How does it work?

For every hour you read, you get one point.  Use your points to win AMAZING prizes at the auction at the end of the summer. Easy!

  1. Register for the program at the TEEN SUMMER READING ICE CREAM PARTY on June 29 at 3 pm. If you cannot make it to the party, you are welcome to sign up anytime at the desk in the Teen Room.
  2. Record the hours you read and what you read on your summer reading log. To be fair to all participants we have limited the amount of points a reader can earn in one week (1 hour = 1 point). Every week a reader can earn up to 24 points.
  3. Turn your summer reading log(s) in to the desk in the Teen Room anytime between June 29 and August 23 at 5 pm.
  4. Come to the TEEN SUMMER READING AUCTION on August 24 at 3 pm and win prizes!

Who can participate?

Teens going into grades 6 through 12 are invited to participate in the TEEN summer reading program.

What counts as summer reading?

Books and ebooks, audiobooks (cds or playaways or downloadable), and graphic novels. Just ask us if you are unsure if what you are reading is eligible for points.

Where can I get my summer reading logs?

You can pick up your summer reading logs at the desk in the Teen Room. All you have to do is record your hours, note what books you read, and then turn the reading log(s) in to the desk in the Teen Room. We’ll keep track of your reading logs for the summer. All reading logs are due on August 23 at 5 pm!

What if I can’t come to the auction?

If you cannot make it to the auction, we will have prizes for you to pick up at a later date.

A note about REQUIRED SUMMER READING FOR SCHOOL

We have the required reading books available for Watertown Middle School and Watertown High School as well as the reading lists for surrounding schools. If the books you are looking for are not on the shelf, we can request them for you!

If you need help picking out what to read this summer, just ask, we’ll help you find something that you may just love!
