Childrens Summer Reading Program 2014
June 23 through August 20, 2014
Come to our Summer Reading Kickoff,
Monday, June 23 at 3 PM!
Our library is packed with fun programs for the summer! Some require registration, which can be done up to two weeks before the program date. Programs with age restrictions are tailored to the needs and interests of a specific age group, for the benefit of performers, and the audience. Please attend the programs intended for your child!
Children will record time spent reading in their Reading Logs which will remain at the library for the duration of the 9 week program. Make sure you check in with a librarian - for every 15 minutes of reading, children get to stamp their Reading Logs. Any time spent reading or being read to between June 23 and August 20 counts!

After last year’s success, the incentive for readers is again a charitable donation to Heifer International, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending world hunger while caring for the Earth. We’ve set an even bigger reading goal this year—3,000 hours! If we read 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 hours, we’ll donate a flock of geese, honeybees, a rabbits, and a goat, respectively. This is your chance to Read to Feed!
Check out this video of Alton Brown explaining how Heifer International passes on the gift!
Fizz, Boom, Read! is sponsored by the Watertown Free Public Library, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, the Charles Burke Fund, and the Watertown Free Public Library Building Committee.
Remember to Celebrate Your Hard Work at Our Wrap-Up Party on Wednesday, August 20th!
