Book Groups

The library currently hosts three book groups. All groups are always happy to welcome new members; you may come every month, or once in a while as you are able. All are welcome!

Wednesday Book Group
The Wednesday Book Discussion Group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm. Discussions are lively and informal, generally based on personal reactions, not academic analysis. Copies of these titles are available 2 weeks before the meeting date at the Circulation desk.

Upcoming Titles:

  • September 2: The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd (2014)
  • October 7: Ireland by Frank Delaney (2005)

Cook the Books!
Join us as we cook the books at the Watertown Free Public Library! Every month we will have a theme and on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm people who would like to discuss food and cooking can bring in one dish on the selected theme they have prepared to share with the group.  This will give everyone a chance to sample dishes from an assortment of cookbooks while only having to prepare one. Start drooling now!

Please bring a dish and the cookbook the dish was prepared from.

Date   Theme
September 8   Back to School Lunches

Mystery Lovers Group
Our Mystery Lovers Group is not strictly a book group, but has a broader mission of exploring anything mystery-related that appeals to the group’s members. They meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm and discuss anything and everything related to the mystery genre. One month might be a discussion of favorite authors, one month might talk about favorite mystery bookshops, and the next month might be a book discussion. You never know what you’ll discover at this group meeting, but it’s sure to be mysterious!!
