Looking for fun? We offer free or discounted admission to over 20 museums and attractions in Massachusetts. Reserve a pass and see how much you can save just by using your library card.

Important Information

  • You must pick-up the museum pass with the library card used for the reservation. Email confirmations are not valid and coupons must be presented at the museum. 
  • Passes may be limited to general admission. Special exhibits or events may not be covered. Inquire about special exhibits by calling museum directly or visiting their individual web sites.
  • Call or check museum website for holiday closings. 
  • Patrons may lose museum pass borrowing privileges if a pass is lost or returned late more than twice in 6 months.
  • Patrons may borrow one museum pass per day.
  • The fine for a late pass is $10. On the first occurrence of a late or lost pass, the patron will be informed that a second late or lost pass in the next 6 months will result in revoked museum pass borrowing privileges for one year.
  • Patrons are responsible for the full replacement cost for a lost museum pass.
  • Paper coupons may be picked up 7 days before the reservation date and do not need to be returned to the library. The following museums use paper coupons: Children’s Museum, Harvard Museum of Natural History, Institute of Contemporary Art, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science, New England Aquarium, Peabody Essex Museum, and Zoo New England.
  • Membership cards may only be picked up the day before or the day of the reservation date and must be returned to the circulation desk or one of our on-site book drops before the library opens the next day. The following museums use membership cards: Boston By Foot, DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Discovery Museums, Garden in the Woods, Gore Place, Harvard Art Museum, Inside Playground, JFK Library and Museum, Launch, Massachusetts Audobon Society, Massachusetts State Parks, Orchard House,Salem Witch Museum, and USS Constitution Museum.

Free admission for groups of up to 4 people. Available seasonally from April- November, rain or shine. Regular admission: ranges from $10-$20 depending on tour.

Boston Island Tours

Reduced, 2-for-1 admission for up to 4 people. Available seasonally from May-October, not valid on weekends. Regular admission: $17 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $10 for children.
Instructions for reserving these passes have changed. ALL tickets must be purchased online through the Boston Harbor Islands website, using our library-specific promo code. We are no longer handing out paper coupons at the circulation desk. Please read the following instructions:

2. Click “BUY TICKETS”
3. Specify which island you plan to visit, your date of travel, and your departure time based on the ferry schedule.
4. Purchase up to 4 tickets.

6. Complete order. Print tickets at home or pick up at Will Call at the Ferry Center.
7. Bring your confirmation number with you for Will Call tickets.

Children’s Museum

Half-price admission for up to 4 people. Regular admission: $16 for adults, $16 for children, and children under 12 months are free. Use the Member’s Express line when visiting.

DeCordova Art Museum and Sculpture Park

Reduced $5 admission for up to 4 people. Seasonal hours: park open every day from June- September; closed Monday and Tuesday from October- May. Sculpture park only open during daylight hours. Regular admission: $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for students, and children under 12 are free.

Discovery Museums

Half-price admission for up to 3 people at $6.25 per person. Valid at Children’s Discovery Museum, Science Discovery Museum, and Discovery Woods. All museums are closed on Monday year-round but open on Mondays in July and August. Regular admission: $12.50 for adults, $11.50 for seniors, $12.50 for children, and children under 12 months are free.

The Children's Science Museum is closed for major renovations and expansion from June 2017 until December 2017. Discovery Woods and the Children's Discovery Museum will remain open during this time.

Garden in the Woods

Harvard Art Museum

Massachusetts State Parks Pass

Free parking for 1 car. Pass valid for multiple farms and sanctuaries, check website or call for specific tours, trails, advisories, and special events. Open year-round.

Museum of Fine Arts

Reduced admission for up to 2 people at $10 per person. Regular admission: $25 for adults, $23 for seniors, $23 for students (18+ with ID), youth 7-17 are free, and children 6 and under are free. Pass valid for galleries and special exhibitions.

Museum of Science

Reduced admission for up to 4 people at $10 per person. Regular admission: $25 for adults, $21 for seniors, $20 for youth (3-11), and children under 3 are free. Pass not valid for planetarium, Mugar Omni theatre, butterfly garden, or 4-D theatre.
Pass does not need to be returned to the library.

New England Aquarium

Reduced admission for up to 4 people at $10 per person. Available year-round except during July and August. Regular admission: $26.95 for adults, $24.95 for seniors, $18.95 for youth (3-11), and children under 3 are free. 
As of 4/8/13, the Aquarium has changed to a timed ticket for entrance every 20 minutes for museum pass holders. Please be aware that 4:40pm is the last admission. The Aquarium suggests before 10:30 and after 3:00 are non-peak times.

Orchard House

Free admission for up to 2 adults and 4 children. Regular admission: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $8 for college students (with ID), $5 for youth (6-17), and children under 6 are free.

Peabody Essex Museum

Reduced admission at $5 per person for 2 people on weekdays and $10 per person for 2 people on weekends. Museum closed on Mondays. Regular admission: $20 for adults, $17 for seniors, $12 for students (with ID), Salem residents (with ID) and youth under 16 are free.

Salem Witch Museum

Reduced admission for up to 6 people at $9 per adult/senior and $6.75 per child (ages 6-18). Passes not valid on weekends in October or on Halloween day. Regular admission: $12 for adults, $10.50 for seniors, and $9.00 for children (ages 6-18).

USS Constitution Museum

Free admission for up to 9 people. Pass only valid for the museum, and not the ship. Regular admission: suggestion donations of $5-$10 for adults, $3-$5 for children, and $20-$25 for families.

Zoo New England

Regular admission for Franklin Park: $19.95 for adults, $16.95 for seniors, $13.95 for children (2-12), and children under 2 are free. Regular admission for Stone Zoo: $16.95 for adults, $14.95 for seniors, $11.95 for children (2-12), and children under 2 are free.
