Exposing children to literacy based activities sets the foundation for a future of strong reading and writing.  To ensure that your child is appropriately exposed to such activities, we have created story time groups to cater to your child’s developmental needs.  Each group is designed for children within a certain age range and we ask that you only attend programs that apply to your child.  We hope that these programs will provide a positive and enriching experience for all who participate.

Arsenal Mall Story Time: 5/3 at 11:30 a.m.
The first Thursday of each month we head to the Arsenal Mall Food Court for Story Time!  Pizzeria Regina offers attendees discounted lunches.  No registration.  For children ages
2 to 5.

Preschool Story Time: 5/4, 5/11, and 5/18 at 10:15a.m.
This program presents stories, songs, and other activities in a fun environment.  No registration. For children ages 3 to 5.

Family Story Time: 5/5 at 10:15a.m.
Bring the whole family to Family Story Time!  It is an experience to share.  No registration. For all ages.

Nursery Rhyme Time: 5/1, 5/8, 5/22 and 5/29 at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00a.m.
This program is an introduction to Nursery Rhymes, stories, songs, and fingerplays.  Materials from the first session are used for the second session.  No registration.  For newborns and pre-walkers.

Toddler Story Time: 5/1, 5/8, 5/22 and 5/29 at 10:15 a.m. and 11:30a.m.
This program uses books, songs, movement, and play to engage your child.  Materials from the first session are used for the second session.  No registration.  For walkers up through age 2.

Spanish Story Time: 5/16 and 5/26 at 10:15a.m.
Cuentos, canciones, y diversión en español para niños de 2 hasta 5 años.  No se necesita registrarse.  Stories, songs, and other activities in Spanish for ages 2 to 5 years.  No registration.

Music Programs

Music with Lenka: Wednesday 5/9 at 2 p.m.
Space is limited.  Participants are accommodated
on a first to arrive basis only.
Ed Morgan: Saturday 5/19 at 11:00 a.m.
Tempo Time: Tuesday 5/15 at 11:00 a.m.

Music programs are for children ages 5 and under.  Music programs do not require registration.

Special Events

Dog B.O.N.E.S.: Saturday 5/26 at 2:00 p.m. 
Independent readers can come and read to a certified therapy dog.  This program creates a supportive environment for early and struggling readers to practice their skills.  Registration is required and begins 5/12.  For readers in Grades K – 5.

Book A Librarian: Wednesday 5/9 at 4:00 p.m. 
Make the most of your library experience!  A Children’s Librarian is available to help you maximize your library experience.  Registration is required.  For children, parents, and adults who work with children. Day and time don’t work for you?  Call or come in to set up an appointment.

Shrinky Dinks: Thursday 5/10 at 3:15p.m. 
Magnificent miniature creations await!  Come to the library and experiment with Shrinky Dinks.  No registration.  For children in Grades K to 3.

Drop-In Craft Time: Saturday 5/12 at 10:15 a.m. 
Swing by the WFPL for craft time!  We’ll have assorted materials available to make a take home craft.  No registration.  For children ages 2 to 5.

Lego Club: Monday 5/14 at 3:30 p.m. 
Meet other Lego enthusiasts at Lego Club!  No registration.  For children in Grades K to 3.

Write-On!:: Thursday 5/17 at 3:15p.m. 
Thinking about writing creatively?  Curious about how to start?  Come explore with Emily!  Registration is required and begins 5/3.  For children in Grades 3 to 5.

Afternoon Movie: Wednesday 5/23 at 2:00 p.m. 
We’re showing a movie on our big screen!  Please call for movie title and information.  No registration.  For families with children of all ages.

PreSchool Activity: Friday 5/25 at 10:15a.m. 
Instead of Story Time, we’ll have a fun activity planned!  No registration.  For children ages 3 to 5.

Wonderful Watercolors: Wednesday 5/30 at 3:15p.m. 
We’ll share some stories about art, then experiment with some watercolor creations of our own!  Registration is required and begins 5/16.  For children in Grades PreK and K.
