Today was my son’s birthday party. About a month ago, we had my daughter’s birthday party. My birthday is also in the Winter. Winter birthday parties are tough-they can take some planning. What does this have to do with the library? Well, in years past, I have used library materials to get inspiration for our winter parties. Birthdays aren’t the only celebrations that the library can help with: there are books for planning weddings, Bar or Bat Mitzvahs, dinner parties, and cookie swaps. You can learn how to decorate cakes and cupcakes, get great ideas for party favors and decorations (D.I.Y. or bought) and even thank-you notes or scrapbooks. A quick keyword search of party planning or birthday parties will get you on your way.
If you don’t have time to come into the library, here are a few websites that I have found helpful in the past:
And if you simply Google your party theme, for example “chocolate chip pancake birthday party”, there will be thousands of blog posts where proud parents list in great detail what they did for their kid’s party.
