I love doing yoga. I wish I could practice yoga every day, or even every week. I like that when you do yoga, it’s called a “practice”, not a “perfect”. You learn to work with what your body can do and challenge yourself to do more. It’s a great exercise for balance, strength and relaxation.
I was lucky enough this week to have a yoga practice with Sarah Barkhuff, who will be leading a weekly yoga practice here at the library starting this Wednesday, the 12th. I enjoyed her teaching style—she really focused on my needs and ability level.
Our Rise and Shine Yoga program will run on Wednesdays from March 12-May 28 from 9:15-10:30 a.m. Classes begin with 5 minutes of breathing exercises meant to calm the central nervous system and prepare the body for a 55-minute physical practice focused on strength and flexibility. The session ends with a 15-minute guided meditation, aimed to further quiet the mind and relax the body.
All skill levels are welcome. This is a free, drop-in class—come to one or come to all. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring your own yoga mat and small blanket (if desired).
Can’t make it on Wednesday mornings? We have other yoga options for you in print and on DVD upstairs around 613.7.
